Isabella

Settling In

by Louise on 22 June, 2010

Isn’t she gorgeous?  We are all besotted with Isabella.  Faith has been drawing some lovely pictures of Isabella and writing her name and Miriam has been keeping a close eye on “my bebe sister, bebe Ba-la”.

Amy has been having lots of cuddles too (and yes, she has red dye in her hair).  Amy is usually the first to appear in our bedroom at some extremely early hour to see what Bella is up to.

Nathan’s first cuddle with Isabella.

Watching soccer with Daddy.

Unfortunately I am having a lot of trouble getting Isabella to latch on to the breast and breast feed.  I am currently expressing milk and feeding it to her in a bottle.  It is a whole new experience for us as all our other babies latched on right away and breastfed with no problems.  I really hope we will be able to sort it out and have Isabella breastfeeding full-time soon.  It is a such a hassle to have to express, heat bottles, wash all the equipment and sterilise….and then start all over again!  Kris is chief Bottle-washer and doing a great job, it is such a help to me.

That is such a cute photo of her drinking from her bottle. She looks so relaxed and content.

Hi Louise,
Nice to follow your progress! I am praying for you with regard to the breastfeeding. I can still remember that longing for the day when I could just feed without all the other hoohaa that went with expressing etc. As you well know, while it seems forever in the middle of it, those early days do pass quickly and I’m praying that you will get it sussed together sooner rather than later. I wish I could pop in and help out a bit, but the commutes a bit far! Will continue to pray that you don’t get too tired and other things will go well so you can focus on wee Isabella.

Oh Louise, she really is precious! So lovely to see those gorgeous photo’s of Bella with you all! Thanks for sharing them…and do hope the feeding will sort out soon for you! I have been having trouble on that front also, with 4 bouts of mastitis thus far…
Rest well and enjoy your new treasure!
